This is the ideal short-but-intense safari if you only have 6 days and want the very best of the eastern Okavango Delta without driving all the way to Chobe. You stay in two of the most beautiful and game-rich areas, and you return to Maun on Day 6.

Itenary

  • Day 1: Maun → Moremi Game Reserve (South Gate) – 2 nights 07:30am

    07:30 – Depart Maun (pick up 4×4 or meet your guide). Drive 95 km tar + 55 km good gravel to South Gate (Maqwee Gate) – 2½–3 hours. Enter Moremi and slow game-drive to camp (another 1–2 hours)

  • Afternoon

    Afternoon game drive in the Xakanaxa / Third Bridge / Black Pools area

  • Overnight

    Xakanaxa or Third Bridge area

  • Day 2: Full day in Moremi Game Reserve

    Early morning & late afternoon game drives

  • Highlights

    High chance of lion, leopard, wild dog, elephant herds, red lechwe, and 350+ bird species.

  • Optional

    Optional Boat Cruises (2–3 hrs) on the delta channels

  • Day 3: Moremi → Khwai Concession – 3 nights

    Morning game drive while exiting via North Gate. Very short transfer: only 25–40 km (1–1½ hrs) to Khwai village bridge

  • Afternoon

    Afternoon & night drive in Khwai (night drives are allowed here – not in Moremi)

  • Days 4 & 5: Full days in Khwai Concession

    Khwai is famous for huge elephant bulls, regular wild dog sightings, leopard in the riverine forest, and incredible night-drive action (aardwolf, civet, porcupine, etc.).

  • Day 6: Khwai → Maun

    Last early-morning game drive, Depart 09:00–10:00, Drive back to Maun via North Gate → Shorobe → Maun (≈ 160–180 km, 3½–4½ hrs including stops)

    Arrive Maun 14:00–15:00, Drop off vehicle or transfer to airport/hotel
